Nanophos is a natural sedimentary soft rock phosphate mined on the west coast of South Africa.
Soft rock phosphate is a natural, non-detrital sedimentary rock rich in phosphate minerals, used as a slow-release fertilizer to improve soil phosphate levels and promote long-term plant productivity.
As farmers increasingly seek more regenerative and sustainable agricultural products to enhance soil health, stimulate soil microbial activity and ensure plant nutrition, Nanophos provides a unique composition of Phosphorus, Calcium and Silicon.
Unlike synthetic fertilizers, which can cause water pollution and soil degradation, soft rock phosphate is a natural product that supports sustainable farming practices. Its slow-release properties minimize the risk of nutrient leaching into water bodies, helping to protect South Africa's precious natural resources.
Download BrochureKROPZ produces a phosphate rock product containing 22% P2O5. This product has a high reactivity (based on the citric soluble P), is partially water soluble and super fine with high reaction surface.
Direct Application Phosphate Rock (DAPR) is a natural, slow-release phosphorus fertilizer derived from finely ground phosphate rock. It provides essential phosphorus to plants, enhancing root development, improving crop yields, and promoting sustainable soil health.
Having the benefit of natural fertiliser that work with the soil microbes to enhance the availability of plant nutrition and supporting the soil structure and water retaining ability.
Having access to natural plant available phosphate nutrition that adds to the benefit of soil and plant health without the pressure of adding excessive salts or changing soil pH and soil structure.
High reactivity which makes it more bioavailable to plants because of a very fine particle structure. The fineness of Nanophos ensures a larger surface area, which allows it to react more effectively with soil acids and release phosphate more readily.
The total phosphate content amounts to 9 – 10% soluble P.
35% of the P in Nanophos are immediately available as citrate soluble P (2% citric acid solution) while the remainder becomes available after a further three extraction cycles.
Download Research ReportPhosphate is an essential nutrient for all living organisms. It plays a vital role in photosynthesis, respiration, energy storage and transfer, cell division and cell enlargement. Phosphorus supports root growth and assists plants during cold winter conditions and increase the rate of water absorption.
NANOPHOS has all the characteristics as a P bearing mineral and fertilizer to provide or supplement the P nutrition plants require when used in the correct application. It is a slow-release source of P, ensuring efficient use of P, available over more than one planting cycle. It reduces P run-off and P fixation in soils.
NANOPHOS contains 22% calcium (Ca). Calcium is essential for microorganisms to turn crop residues into organic matter, release nutrients and improve soil aggregation and water holding capacity. Calcium also plays an important role in neutralizing soil toxicity.
Nanophos contains 26% silica (SiO2). Silica not only plays an important role in soil structure and stability but also increase P availability in soils by reducing soil sorption of P. Silica is beneficial for crops as it strengthens plant cell walls making it harder for pathogens to penetrate. Additionally, silica can stimulate a plants natural defence mechanisms making it more disease resistant.
NANOPHOS also contains levels of trace elements (micronutrients) that are required for plant growth, and overall plant health.
